Eighth-grade soccer teams A and B start the season 3-0


Tuesday night turned out to be another victory for SSMS coach Eddie Flores and his eighth-grade football program.

Eighth-grade Team B won 35-0 over the Marshall Mavericks.

On offense, quarterback Deuce Timmons played well, throwing a touchdown, but managed to bring it down twice.

Quarterback Issiac Ray also played well, throwing a touchdown and played well defensively.

WR Ben Lovelady had a great game, with a TD receiving a touchdown, and was a force to be reckoned with on the other side of the ball; forcing 2 fumbles while getting recoveries. Receiver Griffin Arms also scored a receiving touchdown.

Team B’s defense had a great game, taking out the Marshall Mavericks with a great effort from Preston Nottingham, Aiden Chester, TJ Bolden and Za Goldbolt.

Coach Flores said the aforementioned players stole and played defense in Marshall’s shutout win over the Mavericks.

The Wildcats coach said Josh Dixon, TJ Abron, Jermiah Robinson, Bryson Reyes, Aiden Koon, Kendrick Harris, Marcos Ramirez and Jacolby Arceneaux all played well executing the blocking plan on offense and entering the backfield in defense.

The eighth-grade team also beat the Mavericks at home, beating Marshall 35-16.

On offense, QB Gage Gideon threw three touchdowns and rushed for another. Wide receivers Jaxson Haire had 2 touchdowns and played well defensively and Jamorian Jeffery also recorded a touchdown on reception.

RB Alex King ran the ball through the night and managed to hit it with a touchdown in the victory.

“Team A’s defense played hard all night,” said coach Flores, “[They were] flying and swarming towards football.

Players Jeffery Stevenson, Aiden Godbolt, Justin Strickland, Dallin Horton, Lucas Shirley, Anthony Solis, Michael Walker, Trey Pannel, Kase Temples and Aiden Mcarroll did a great job of blocking in attack, and the other side of the ball qu “They created problems for the Marshall Mavericks all night long,” the college coach said.

Next, the Sulfur Springs Middle School Wildcats will travel to Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, October 5 and play against the Mount Pleasant Tigers.

Eighth grade team B will start the action at 5.30 p.m., followed by team A at 6.30 p.m.
