Clemson fell to 25th place in the Associated Press college football vote on Sunday and has been in the top 10 for 97 straight weeks.
The Tigers (2-2) suffered a second loss on Saturday, doubling overtime in North Carolina. It also dropped 16 places from 9th place in the Top 25 AP announced by Regions Bank.
Clemson’s top 10 streak was tied to Alabama, the second longest run in college football and the second longest in AP voting history, after Miami’s 137 from 1985 to 1993.
Crimson Tide remained number one with 58 of 62 votes. Georgia, second, won the remaining four votes. Oregon remained in third place. Pennsylvania State University dropped from 2nd to 4th, Iowa remained 5th, and Oklahoma fell from 2nd to 6th.
Cincinnati moved up from 1st to 7th, and Arkansas from 8th to 8th after beating Texas A & M. Razorbucks is the highest-ranked as they were 8th at the start of the 2012 season.
That season, Arkansas lost the second game of the season to Louisiana-Monroe and was never ranked again. Razorbucks finished fifth of the season under Bobby Petrino.
No.9 Notre Dame and Florida closed the top ten.
Clemson managed to extend the week’s streak, which was ranked 107, the third longest active streak after Alabama (218) and Ohio (150).
The Birth of the Backs winning streak does not include votes that were not eligible during the 2020 season because Big Ten had no plans to play due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Alabama’s current poll series tracks Nebraska’s 348s from 1981 to 2002.
Four new teams entered the first ranking of the season after six ranked teams lost this weekend and four lost to unranked opponents.
– No. 19 Oklahoma beat Kansas to improve 4-0. The Cowboys finished their ranks last season.
– No.21 Baylor is 4-0 after confusing Iowa State University at home and is ranked for the first time since the last poll in 2019.
– No. 23 North Carolina State University (3-1) was ranked after losing eight straight games to Clemson. Wolfpack was temporarily ranked 23rd last season.
– No.24 Wake Forest is 4-0 for the first time since 2019, when Demon Deacon was ranked No.19 for a total of 5 weeks. This is the only season Wake has been ranked since 2008.
The two teams that started the season in the top 10 are currently unranked.
–Iowa State University, after finishing 9th in 2020, reached 7th, the highest ranking in school history, but is no longer ranked 2-2.
–North Carolina was 10th at the start of the season, but dropped out after being sent to Georgia Institute of Technology and fell to 2-2.
–Wisconsin started Season 12, but was not ranked 1-2 after losing to Pennsylvania State University and Notre Dame University.
– Kansas State University dropped out after spending a week on the leaderboards.
The Southeastern Conference has four teams in the top ten, five of twelve teams in the top twelve, and Mississippi is in 12th place.

Ranking versus ranking
No. 1 Mississippi No. 12 Alabama. The first ranked game between the Rebels and Tide since 2017.
8th Arkansas in 2nd Georgia. The Razorbucks Resurrection is one of the stories for the first month of the season.
No.9 Notre Dame’s No.7 Cincinnati. Fighting Irish has commissioned a barecat whose Notre Dame Cathedral needs to be as good as it gets if it has a chance to squeeze into the playoffs.
No. 19 Oklahoma No. 21 Baylor. You can go short in the leaderboard of any of the 12 big rivals.
