After spending the past couple of years fronting and writing songs for Alt - Rock band Crysler, Shirley-Jane now breaks away from mainstream songwriting rules with her new solo material. Brought up in Sussex but having now lived in London for the past ten years, she has been in a number of bands (performing mainly as a bass player and more recently as a vocalist) but this is the first time she has worked on her own solo material.
Dark yet catchy songs show a more mature and confident side to her diverse songwriting talent; mixing trip-hop beats with her distinctive sultry vocals and funky instrumental riffs, Shirley-Jane shows that she’s not afraid of her eclectic influences. Having played bass guitar since she was 17, a strong bass line features heavily on most of her songs. Twined with her unusually low vocals and simple yet heartfelt lyrics, Shirley-Jane makes insightful observations on relationships that everyone can relate to.
