" In their edgy blend of pastoral bliss and creeping unease - utterly distinctive" -The Sunday Times
Described as one of Hampshire's best-kept secrets, Black Nielson are as engaging as they are elusive. Having spent the majority of 2004 in splendid isolation they return with what is their finest collection of songs to date.
Having recorded two albums for Truck Records Black Nielson took an extended break from the live circuit in Spring 2004. Concentrating their time on new material they temporarily relocated to a small Cornish village, hiring a house overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It was here the band then set about recording material for what will be their 3rd album using what little studio equipment they owned or could borrow.
'Love Song To Chan Marshall' is just one of the tracks produced in the weeks that ensued and is the band's first release in over a year. Committed to tape by the light of the Cornish sunset, (corny as fuck, but true!) 'Love Song...' is an ode to much admired recording artist Cat Power; A lilting, love-lorn confession with the dynamic scope of an epic, unravelling in just over 3 minutes, that has been catching the ears of reviewers, DJ's and audiences alike.
'This is a tiny dynamic epic of a love song that unwinds in its own beautifully blissful mellow glowing space and time'
