We are Jones Radio! Not a fad, nor passing trend. But a good Psychedelic band (with small Indie tendencies) bursting at the seams with ideas.
We came about on a cold Monday back in October 2005; playing our first gig 48hrs after forming on the first anniversary of the late great John Peel. We started throwing all sorts of ideas together, creating our early sounds.
Gigging hard and fast and finding our feet in 2006 we found ourselves in all sorts of places. We wrote and recorded our first EP (Dead Air) and released it via our own Label 'Fat Athlete Recordings' on I-Tunes. It did us proud, gaining us a little piece in 'that' music rag and gave us a surprising good amount of airplay in Germany.
We released a single (Boneshaker) via the Shifty Disco singles club in March 2007. We were creating good tunes around this time but our minds were slightly moving off the straight-laced Indie thing. Our strength has always been in creating soundscapes and interesting flamboyant movements of mood: synth-driven with layered spacious guitars.
Come May 2007 and after everything had just about calmed down to take stock and direction, we sat down and decided to play fewer gigs and write our new EP (Travelling Show) - a modern psychedelic-themed EP on a "Fictional" Travelling Show (all but the names have been changed). Yes we have still have little Indie tendencies but that Synth is really doing the work now! Writing it was a slow process, but we did it: we played the piece in full for the first time on December 14th 2007. Now recorded and mixed we are looking to release Spring/Summer 2008. Initially as download only with an initial short run of physical copies.
2008, will be great. Amazing Opus magnum.
