HOP ON BOARD ...
Welcome
old welcome new, and a belated happy new year .. are you back in the
swing of things yet? .. good, then well begin.
The first entrée of this twelve course gastronomic gorge is from
a band we have admired from afar for some time now. Not so very far
mind as they hail from the historic market town of Farringdon,
a short sprint up the old A420, or the road to hell as some
call it, but thats another story. This is rolling country on the
Cotswolds edge, Pam Ayres yard, you remember How I laughed
at my Mother's false teeth, As they foamed in the waters beneath
no? .. just as well then.
BOING! BOING! BOING! BOING!
As with many fine bands Spacehoppers is an organic metamorphosis,
mates from school, jamming covers, plucking up the courage to pen their
own tunes, scrimping and saving for that first studio time, its
a well ploughed furrow. Present at front and centre, Lee started as
one of those much maligned singing drummers the bods that
knew it all scoffed, "get out front boy" they demanded, "youre
pretty, and you got good lungs" being deeply scared of Matt Kilford
and Dave Corrigan - his other two founding fathers, he saw sense, and
things have, in the immortal words of John Motson got better and
better and better. As the songs also evolved, so the whole sound
had to follow, and a wise sage known only as Martin Townshend made union
to tickle the ivories (well, plastics thankfully these days) and with
new dynamic tubthumper Richard Millin, the three were five .. like
a giant refreshed.
COULD YOU BE THE VOICE IN MY HEAD?
So here it is, our first ever ever double A side, we couldnt decide
between them, so took this decision, not lightly .. if you get the chance
go see Spacehopper live, thats what turned us on in the first
place, theyre always out and about, and last year toured with
Cosmic Rough Riders, for regular updates and all manner of information
visit their site www.spacehopperworld.com
