Hello one and all from The Kingdom of The Random,
enclosed is the rather dishy and definitely different disc from the little known
Elston Majeska.
We first spied these Sheffield originals at last years In The City, the urban
festival of shoulder rubbing and cocaine abuse held annually in Manchester,
the highlight (and voted best band or something) of the thing in those
who know (fuck all) were Hoggboy, we saw Hoggboy ... we've seen a billion
Hoggboys.
Elston Majeska's set was in a scabby pub, no stage, limping PA, indifferent audience,
you know the deal right?, and what struck us, apart from the drug crazed
solo go-go dancer front and centre (no relation) was how beautifully obscure
this tiny trio were, whilst all at once sending shivers down our punk
rock backs with licks and riffs we thought you young 'uns had given up
on, it was enough to make even the most hard nosed of Gang Of Four fans
weep in their lager beer.
So we put it to them that they should join the family somehow, dragged them
screaming southward and recorded them at Shonk, not 'waves to Manhattan'
that's one from Joe's bedroom and he'd like to point out, and often does,
that it was written way way before the events of September 11th.
