CRACKOUT

CHUCK
ChuckRelease Date: 23rd Feb, 1998
Cat No: DISCO9802
Format: CDS

Three kids, all sweet sixteen, young and pretty with guitars that go VWOOORSHKERRRUNCH! Some people get all the luck. Certainly Shifty Disco thought so when they chanced upon Crackout one Wednesday night at the bottom of the bill in an empty room. Like finding a bundle of tenners in the bottom of your grandad's old sock.

Smart! thought Shifty Disco, let's put a single out. Just like that. A studio was booked and Rachel, Steve and Nick skived off school for the day. The result was "Chuck", a vicious, petulant rampage through dark, angular punk rock and razor-edged power-pop: as cool as meeting aliens in your back garden and as exhilarating as a ride to the moon and back on the back of a spaceship.

A mere eight gigs old, it took a mere four weeks between Shifty Disco first seeing Crackout live and their debut single being released. They didn't even have time to pause for breath. When they did, they split up. Crackout have no history. Just this single.

"Think Placebo. Think Smashing Pumkins. Think Spark's 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us'. Think XTC's 'Senses Working Overtime' and The Beatles' 'Dear Prudence'running wild. Think all these things fused together inside a massive fast-breeder reactor. Think Crackout." - Nightshift Magazine

"A rip-roaring, coke-snorting rampage through evil death pop with the FX pedal marked 'Ultra Fuzz' cranked up to the max" - Nightshift Magazine
